What is Ledge!?

Ledge! is a billboard of chicago events and groups. open the app into a map and see what's going on around you. RSVP and see who else has as well. Making events is as simple as pinning the map and writing few words. You don't need to be the event creator to add an event! If you know there is music @millenium park tommorrow night and you are verified, go right ahead and add it to the map so your fellow citizens can see! Check out How-to for more info

Ledge is part of a broader community of geospatial "reality apps" designed to combat the growing crisis of loneliness and lack of community. Unlike traditional social media platforms that create new paradigms for interaction, Ledge! focuses on enhancing and simplifying real-world connections and experiences.

What does our name mean?

Ledge refers to the Chicago's concrete shore line, often refered to as "ledges".

Our Commitment

All public events on ledge need to be free*. Only verfied members can throw public events and create public groups.

Why free?

We do not want ledge to be a place of business. You should only be throwing public events because you want to help make Chicago a better place. *The caveat being if you want to throw an event that requires food or renting out a gym or some other cost, you can require that people pay their fair share. But you should never be throwing an event with the intention of directly making money out of it. Of course, if you want to create a private group and throw paid events for the members in it, this is completely allowed.

What's verification? How do I get verified?

Verification means the ledge team has checked that you are mission aligned and a real person/not a troll. You must get verified to throw public events or start a public group. "Mission Aligned" does not have to mean you are trying to save the world. It just means that you think Chicago would be a better place if we all had more friends, more community, and more things to do outside our homes. We will arrange to do a video chat or meet for a quick cup of coffee to make sure we are on the same page.
